HCNE’s plans for furthering our Education, Community Service and Research include the following:
- Multicenter trials of new pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of migraine
- Multicenter trials of proposed treatments for chronic daily headache
- Pilot studies of new proposed treatments in headache medicine
- Public programs aimed at migraine and other types of headache for sufferers and their families
- Travel scholarships for physicians-in-training to attend HCNE courses throughout New England
- Commissioning of informational articles about various aspects of headache medicine for publication on our Web site and elsewhere
With such an ambitious agenda, members and friends of the Headache Cooperative of the Northeast can play a vital role in helping HCNE meet our research and education goals at a continued high level of quality. Sponsors can include patients, professionals, philanthropists, corporations, or any group or individual concerned about headache and its treatment.
HCNE’s Stated Goals:
To advance the science of headache through education and coordinated research; to provide a forum to link providers of headache care throughout the northeast; to support access to appropriate care for our patients, and to increase awareness about national and international organizations and journals devoted to headache research and patient care.
HCNE’s Primary Activities:
Producing seminars, courses and publications devoted to Headache Medicine, including a yearly Headache Medicine Board Certification Review. The Winter HCNE Stowe Headache Symposium and the Fall Boston HCNE Headache Conference have become mainstays of the field in our region, and attract a national attendance, in large part because of the national and international stature of faculty at these meetings.
Current Benefactors
Current sponsorship for HCNE activity has mainly been through pharmaceutical partners (see Pharmaceutical Industry Policy)
